Early Career
Christopher Delia of St. Catharines, Ontario began competing on the 'A' circuit at age eleven. Chris spent much of his youth training and working with some of the best coaches in North America including Missy Clarke, Torchy Miller, Jeffery Welles and Tim Kees. During his time with Torchy, Chris and his High Amateur jumper, "Harp", went on to win numerous Championships in Bromont, Collingwood, Spruce Meadows and the Royal Winter Fair for many years.
Silent SamIn 1994, Chris purchased the grey gelding "Silent Sam" in Germany, a horse considered to have huge talent and scope. In 1996, only their second year on the grand prix circuit, Chris and Silent Sam proved that they were a force to be reckoned with and went on to win two World Cup Qualifiers in a row at Bromont and Quebec City. They narrowly missed sweeping the Quebec Circuit at Blainville by fractions of a second in the jump-off and came second to Chris' former mentor - Jeffery Welles. As a result of these stellar performances, Chris' dreams came true when he was named to the 1996 Olympic Show Jumping Team and represented Canada for his first time in International competition. Silent Sam was subsequently sold in 1998 to the United States and since then Chris has been focusing on building his riding career and training facility in Oakville, Ontario.
